EDISON GREEN AWARD

With Green technologies and sustainable solutions playing a large role in the redevelopment of Main Street, USA, the Edison Green Award™ recognizes an organization’s commitment to developing sustainable solutions and Green business models. The Edison Green Award™ is designed as a platform to recognize efforts to reduce participating community’s carbon footprint, create Green Collar jobs through new innovation methods and improve community health and self sufficiency.
The truly great innovators go beyond bringing a single product or service to the marketplace. The innovative genius of Edison was to build out from the bulb to the creation of the electrical industry. He had to conceive a system down to its very last detail – and then manufacture everything in it.
All entries will be judged on the following Edison Green Award criteria:
- Societal Impact: How were green practices implemented? Describe the commitment your “green” practice requires. How does your organization reduce society's carbon footprint?
- Marketplace Innovation: How is the strategy and positioning of your organization innovative? How did you creatively use marketing techniques (advertising, sales promotion, social media) in introducing your green concept to consumers?
- Marketplace Success: In what way(s) is your organization demonstrating signs of success and staying power? Providing sales data, distribution data, user penetration statistics, consumer preference data, or other performance-related metrics which indicate the success path of your organization, describe how your green practices are accounted for and the outcomes?
- Technological Innovation: What compliances do you strive to meet? How does the organization reflect the application of new technology, cutting-edge technology or innovative thinking? How does this move us toward a more sustainable future?
- Market Structure Innovation: In what way(s) does your organization pioneer a new market or restructure an existing market? Will it create a new segment or dominate an existing one? How did you create a culture of environmental innovation?
These awards are granted under the aegis of the Thomas Edison Papers at Rutgers University, a globally recognized research network dedicated to the study of innovation and its application in the 21st Century.
